A definite one to watch! Lexi Weege is no stranger to the road. The Western Mass-based powerhouse singer/songwriter grew up in a traveling Cabaret troupe, and she’s been on the move ever since. After years of touring and three full-length releases with her band Weege & The Wondertwins, Lexi is releasing her third solo album in 2022. Combining the best of classic country, Motown, and soul, WEEGE’s original songs are full of spirit.
Whether she’s crooning a heartbroken ballad or belting out the blues, Lexi Weege's dexterous voice is at the heart of it all. Her acrobatic vocals soar high and plunge low, tugging at your heartstrings. Expect to dance, and maybe shed a bittersweet tear, too. Weege is a gifted storyteller.
Keep your eyes peeled for her new record, coming in 2022!
JJ Slater is a born and bred New Englander, and so naturally has a sound for every season. Songs evoke blankets of wintry whispering just as much as pulsing, hypnotic summer grooves, at times overlapping to create textures that seem stuck out of space and time. With Dan Bisson, an upright player whose percussive, melodic style glues together their live duo sound, he culled together a set of material that reflects growing up and growing out in a wild, wild world.
In early 2020, Slater tuned a piano at Sleeper Cave Records, which led to a bit of studio time, which led to a lot of studio time, and eventually settled as two EPs. Many of the songs were started in 2018, deep in the woods of Goshen, MA, by a river where he would practice his instruments for hours at a time (and sometimes crash for the night). The sighing harmoniums, birdsong guitar shimmers, and trickling pianos that overlay what started as a “busking set-up” EP seem to paint a picture of this sanctuary.
No stranger to live performance, having performed around the East Coast as a psych rock bard with Humble Digs and with the jazz-funk upsetters Organ Transplant, Slater along with Bisson have been known to rollick the stage as an acoustic duo, with the former providing bass drum and the latter slapping a backbeat. Come 2021, expect some deep-pocket guitar explorations alongside deftly crafted folk songs, both acoustic and electric.
